International Yoga Retreat & Artist Residency

Artslighthouse was founded in 2008 with the intention to create a hub for artists from all over the word to work together and inspire each other. Our residency has accommodated over 40 different courses and workshops, including a groups as far as from Harvard university.

Artslighthouse was started as a family business by Judit Kollo - designer, Dorottya Kollo - game designer, Daniel Slater - software engeneer, Miklos Kollo - renowned theater director, and Eva Preisinger - choreographer and former head of Budapest's largest district's cultural institute.

Why here?

Artslighthouse is located in the valley of Val in Tabajd; a small historic village located 45km from Budapest.The idillic countryside provides a great escape to reconnect with our inner thoughts. Besides its peaceful nature, the location is also known for its special micro climate that has been said to have healing effect on the body.

The village of Tadajd was founded in 1228 and has a rich history, with many local sites of interest.


Artslighthouse can offer on-site accommodation for up to 18 guests. Each of our guests will be accommodated in a twin room with en-suite bathrooms. The teachers of the course will have their own guest apartment.Artslighthouse also provides 3 meals a day, which includes a continental all you can eat breakfast, a 2 course hot lunch and a 1 course hot dinner.(**Any allergies or diet preferences should be noted upon application) We also invite our guest for some seasonal home grown organic goods such as fruits, vegetables, fresh qual and chicken eggs. Guests can also take advantage of the following on-site entertainments:

Hungarian Folk Art - 3–8 July 2017

Katalin Csécsei and Attila Ónodi

This program is designed to explore and reinvent the heritage and the traditions of the historic Hungarian folk art. All participants will have the chance to get an insight and learn about the most common trades of the Hungarian folk art, such as folk dance, ceramic art, textiles, and traditional embroidery techniques. Katalin Csécsei and Attila Ónodi are both have honored as the masters of “hungarian folk art”. Any students taking this course will be able to learn from one of the best professors in the field. Ceramics-Sculptural vessels - 10–15 July 2017

Zsuzsa Preisinger

This course is designed to introduce participants to basic ceramics techniques. During the course the students will create small figurative vessels, based on historic ceramics figurines. The course will give an opportunity for the participants to learn about how the concept of ancient vessels can be re-purposed in the modern way. Zsuzsa Preisinger former university lector has over 40 years of experience in teaching professionally, therefore her teaching techniques will help all participants feel confident in achieving the best results. Painting outdoors-Exploring the landscape - 17-22 July 2017

The landscape surrounding our premises has been providing a great inspiration to many painters visiting our painting course for the past years. This course provides an opportunity for both beginners and professionals to enhance their skills in the field of fine art. The participants will learn new techniques as well as learn about historical milestones in landscape paintings. The class includes lectures as well as presentations of painting techniques, as well as extended workshops. Theater and Actig - 24-29 July 2017

Miklos Kollo and Róbert Wegenast

This course is designed to teach participants about theater and acting, while also providing skills that they can use in professional settings, such as presentation techniques and body language skills. This short course have been very successful to the point where few of our previous attendees pursued following up classes in acting. This course aims to open up a whole new world for the individual where they can find their confidence for performing and delivering presentations. Miklos Kollo famous theater director has been renown of his work in theater, among many achievements, the esabisher of the psycho dramatic theater form and the winner of the Cannes Imnternational Café Theater Festival.
